KELLY WRIGHT/CBN NEWS 02-23-2026 In Orlando, Florida, this weekend, family, friends, and fans of Ron Kenoly gathered to pay respects to his legacy. The beloved worship leader who took his songs of praise to more than 120 countries around the world passed away on February 3rd. For more than 40 years, Ron Kenoly didn't just lead worship services; he helped people meet God in a deeply personal way through praise and worship. At Judah Church, family, friends, and believers from around the world gathered to celebrate his life. His three sons honored their father the way he would have loved most—through tears, stories, and song. They shared that although not a perfect man, he was a loving dad—determined to teach his sons to give God all glory, all power, and all honor. What he poured into his children, he also shared with many others. Singer-Songwriter Micah Stampley said, "It's been tough, his transition. He's always been a father figure, he's Doc and then he's Pops." Kenoly invested personally in worshipers and musicians like concert pianist Adlan Cruz—consistently pointing them to the true purpose of worship. "We traveled to maybe 40 countries together. And I saw him as more than just an artist or a leader. I saw him as a worshipper, a true worshipper," Cruz said. Grammy-winning worship leader Israel Houghton says Ron's influence deeply shaped his life and ministry. "When I went into being kind of like a professional, so to speak, in leading worship, Ron Kenoly was the North Star of that," Houghton said. For Don Moen, who was the creative director and president for Integrity Music, Ron became more than a partner on stage—he was a brother, as they traveled the world to share Jesus through music. Global ministry organizer Grace Knodt said, "What a pioneer from the beginning. He helped, along with others, change modern worship." Bruno Miranda, Kenoly's longtime music director and close associate, said, "Give to other people what comes from the word of God—I think that was the main thing with Doc. If you take any of his songs, they were all biblical." Dr. Kenoly's son, Sam Kenoly, shared that, until the very end, his father never stopped doing what he was created to do— worshipping God. "He was singing new songs that he had wrote for hours, giving praise to God. And then he laid his head down and he went to sleep. And the Lord took him," he said. Ron Kenoly—a man who lived to worship God in spirit and truth. u Permission Granted “ How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! It was there he helped lead the team’s weekly Bible study alongside chaplain Jonathan Rainey. As the Seahawks and Patriots prepare to square off on Super Bowl Sunday, Lindsey told CBN News he was “really struck” by “how serious [the Seattle players] were about studying Scripture.” “They bring the same seriousness they have on the field to how they live their lives according to God’s Word,” he said. In November, Lindsey joined Rainey’s pre-practice Bible study, which regularly draws as many as 50 players throughout the season, to help the athletes — including wide receiver Jake Bobo and quarterback Drew Lock — understand Scripture on a deeper level. The collaboration between Rainey and Lindsey came amid Logos launching a new artificial intelligence tool to help users explore theology, study doctrine, and ask in-depth questions about Bible passages. Aware of just how ubiquitous AI has become, Lindsey cautioned against the dangers of using most artificial intelligence platforms for a number of reasons, including the propensity for such tools to hallucinate. Hallucination is a phenomenon in which generative tools — like large language models — confidently produce inaccurate or fully fabricated content, either by pulling from false information on the internet or refusing to acknowledge a lack of information on a query. “The hallucination problem is actually getting worse,” explained Lindsey. “I checked last week and statistically, anywhere from about 35% to 90% of … the answer … coming to you from AI is made up, which is dangerous.” That phenomenon is especially dangerous, he noted, when it comes to studying Scripture. Logos’ artificial intelligence tool, on the other hand, is based only on the Bible and vetted theological and scholarly work.... See SEAHAWKS- Page 16
Exodus 23:25-33 God has promised us a life of victory. That victory must be obtained by our day by day fight to possess our promises. The land of Canaan was a land filled with enemy giants. Our Canaan, which is a land of overcoming faith, is also filled with giants. To take the land, we must fight the good fight of faith. That faith is a step-by-step, here a little, there a little, battle to possess our inheritance. What we fight to obtain, we must guard to keep. Israel’s Inconsistencies kept them from the Promised Land It seems that every time Moses was instructed by God to tell the children of Israel to do something , they rebelled or murmured against it until the entire generation of people fell in the wilderness. (Numbers 14:2) God told Moses, because of their constant murmuring and complaining, and lack of faith, that he would give them what they asked for. And through their death, he would raise up another generation that would possess the land. Numbers 14:26-31 (Read/Amp) This speaks to us today as well. Today we find people much like the children of Israel. They too fail to realize the significance of God’s commandments. If we don’t determine to live by faith and fight for our rights in Christ, then it will only mean that another generation will have to rise up and do God’s pleasure. God promised to do great things for Israel, if they would keep his commandments, and do that which was right in his sight. If God required them to live up to a certain degree of commitment, before the blessings of God would be given to them, then how much more should we need to obey the Word of God and do that which is right in God’s sight, knowing that we have not only a recreated, born again spirit, but that we have the Spirit of God living in us to help us to follow the commandments of the Lord fully. Often times, people look at God’s commandments and only see the restriction of what God forbids. They think the law of God is a demand that prohibits them their own freedom of choice. But God knows what is best, and he understands that the only way we are going to be fulfilled is by living under his care and protection. And that is only worked out through our doing what is pleasing in his sight, in order for us to have his spirit upon us. The Lord gave promises that went with the commandments. In Exodus 23:25 we have what is commonly referred to as a healing promise. God said, “And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.” God said there was a condition upon this promise. Often we find people who want the blessing, but not the blesser. They want the healing, but not the healer. They want the promise, but not the giver of the promise. The greatest command-ment of all was to love the Lord God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. If we will fall in love with God, just for who He is, then the blessings of God will fall on us! Exodus 23 describes the overwhelming odds God intended to give Israel over their enemies. God promised Israel if they would serve Him not only would He take care of them physically as a nation, but He would protect their young and cause them to live out their days on the earth. This promise was God’s commitment to Israel, if they would follow him fully. Then God promises to send his fear before Israel and destroy all the people to whom they would come up against. The fear of God would cause their enemies to turn their backs to Israel. What a tremendous promise! How could anyone dare turn such a promise like that down? Yet Israel served their own flesh instead of God, and left God’s promise for the next generation to enjoy. What Israel failed to realize was, even though they faced great and terrible enemies, their enemies were no match for Israel’s God. If Israel would have viewed their enemies through God’s eyes instead of their own eyes, they would have seen the giants as grasshoppers, instead of themselves as grasshoppers in the eyes of the enemies. Proverbs 29:25 says “The fear of man bringeth a snare”. With all God had promised Israel, they still kept to their murmuring and complaining because the present conditions were unpleasant. God said He would drive out the inhabitants of Canaan a little bit at a time, until Israel was able to increase as a nation and inherit the entire land. This has great significance to us today because so often we think that we should move right into our inheritance immediately, instead of having to take it a little at a time, and so we become discouraged and fainthearted. What was God’s reasoning behind a slow step-by-step method of extinguishing their enemies. I think there is several important reasons One, because God did not want them to overcome more than they could possess. So often we think we can handle more than we can. But God knows what we can handle, and so He only blesses us with what we can afford to be blessed with, unless the subtle enemies of our carnal nature overcome us and drive us from the land. For example God couldn’t give a pastor who was only able to pastor 200 people a church of 4,000. It would destroy him. In the same way, God is not going to bring you into more than you are able to maintain. By obtaining a little at a time, we grow in faith as we possess more of our promises. Another reason was because God wanted them to increase as they overcame. God wants us to increase as we go, so that what we take we can keep. We don’t want to lose the ground that we’ve gained! And neither did God. So He led them into the land step by step. And that is the way He is going to lead us, step by step. Isaiah 28:9-10 says, “Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from the milk and drawn from the breasts. ... But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea let them exceedingly rejoice. Psalm 68:3 …Oh, Rejoice in His presence. (TLB) Therefore, will I offer in His tabernacle sacrifices of joy… Psalm 27:6 …Sacrifices of triumphant joy… (Rotherman Translation) For you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings will I rejoice. Psalm 63:7 …you are my help and in the shadow of your wings I will shout for joy. (NAB) I was recently reading one of Dr. Lester Sumrall’s books called, Pioneer of Faith. He gave this account of one of his personal visits with Smith Wigglesworth: One day, I asked him, “Brother Wigglesworth, how is it that you look the same every time I come? How do you feel?” He bellowed at me and said, “I don’t ever ask Smith Wigglesworth how he feels!” I asked, “How do you get up in the morning?” He said “I jump out of bed! I dance before the Lord for at least ten to twelve minutes - high-speed dancing. I jump up and down in my room telling God how great He is, how glad I am to be associated with Him and to be His child.” After this he would take a cold shower, read the Bible for an hour, pray for an hour, then open his mail to see what God would have him do that day. He was an extremely remarkable man, totally sold out to God. Wigglesworth was known as a man of great faith and power. The supernatural signs and miracles that happened in his life were outstanding. Maybe it seems unusual for a man like that to get up in the morning and dance, jump, and rejoice before God; and yet as we study the Bible we see some excessive rejoicing by David, Job, Sarah, Mary, Elizabeth, John, and the Apostle Paul. “Rejoice in the Lord always; and again I say rejoice,” Philippians 4:4. One day the Lord spoke to me so clearly and said “If you only knew what happens in the spirit when you rejoice, you would rejoice everyday.” When we rejoice, we are acting like God is our God; Jesus is Lord; the Holy Spirit lives in us; and we are in Christ Jesus - sons and daughters of God! Rejoicing is an act of faith. Remember the words of Paul in Acts 27:25, “…cheer up, for I believe God, that it shall be as He told me.” When we believe God, we cheer up! The Apostle Peter said it this way, “…yet believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory,” 1 Peter 1:8. Believing and rejoicing usher in the glory and goodness of God in your life. The Living Bible says, “…even now you are happy with the inexpressible joy that comes from Heaven itself.” Though the fig tree does not blossom…the fields yield no food…no cattle in the stalls…YET I WILL REJOICE IN THE LORD…The Lord God is my Strength… See POWER OF JOY- Page 16 3 GLAD TIDINGS APRIL 2026 Glad Tidings “Glad Tidings” was founded by Quinnelle McRae Ministries in August 1987, after graduating from Rhema Bible College in the spring of 1981 and 1986. 4 GLAD TIDINGS APRIL 2026 Feb 18, 2026 The Importance of Joy and Happiness I had heard from the Lord at the end of 2025 that 2026 would be a year of increased anointing. We would be stretching our tents, enlarging them, and experiencing a great increase. Our spheres of influence would increase, and we would begin to give out of abundance rather than out of lack. He said that He would empower us to overcome the spirits of Mammon and Jezebel in 2026 and bring forth great multiplication in many ways. He also said He was going to judge all barrenness and bring forth fruitfulness. I was excited for Him to give me more revelation and much more detail. However, on January 1, the Lord began ministering to me about the importance of joy and happiness. What? That didn't seem so profound... but it is. In the dictionary, joy and happiness are described similarly, yet we often separate their definitions depending on the subject matter. Fueling Our Forward Motion in God with Joy and Happiness Many of us are familiar with the passage in Nehemiah 8:10, which says, "the joy of the Lord is your strength" (NKJV). In this context, Nehemiah had been rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, and he and the Jews had faced enormous opposition from their enemies. To find an internal joy that came through trust and faith in the Lord was necessary to overcome the emotional and heartfelt distress they had been experiencing. There is something about joy and happiness that will empower us in our new season and will fuel our forward motion in God. I believe the landscape of our lives is about to change! Like the project that Nehemiah and the Jews were involved in, many of us have been in a rebuilding process. Whether God is repairing our families, rebuilding our businesses, restructuring our churches, or repairing the breaches in our walls, joy and happiness are keys right now to overcoming our enemy. In another book of the Bible, we find a New Testament admonition to do something similar. The passage is about finding a place in our hearts and minds to be HAPPY! I love how the apostle Paul taught about dealing with stress and the importance of happiness. Let's investigate the book of Acts chapter 26, where he spotlights the perfect example of staying unstressed. We begin our study when Paul was falsely accused and imprisoned while possibly facing an execution. Thank goodness our bad days aren't quite that bad. Nevertheless, how do we face, adapt, and overcome days of despair? We read in Scripture how Paul used and emphasized his happiness as a choice, rooted in faith rather than circumstances, urging the congregation to "think themselves happy" by focusing on thankfulness and positive declarations, no matter what challenges they faced. Let's get started with a small background of our apostle Paul. He was one of many who were chosen to forerun the Gospel. Most people remember "Saul of Tarsus," a son of a Pharisee, who sought out Christians and persecuted them. Given permission from the high priest, the Pharisees, and the Sadducees to destroy the new movement of Christianity (see Acts 22:4–5 NLT), Paul was bent on destroying all who opposed the Jewish religion and the strict order of the Law. Those who were involved in this new move of Christianity (known as "The Way" in 30 A.D.) were considered enemies of God by Saul and others. Paul's Wisdom During Persecution Paul gave one of the most surprising statements in the Bible from the book of Acts when facing a possible death sentence for promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ: "I think myself happy, King Agrippa, because today I shall answer for myself before you concerning all the things of which I am accused by the Jews, especially because you are expert in all customs and questions which have to do with the Jews. Therefore I beg you to hear me patiently" (Acts 26:2–3 NKJV, italics added). Paul was standing before King Agrippa, who had the power to take his life, and said, "I think myself happy, King Agrippa." Where did that statement come from? From there, Paul drew on his wisdom and knowledge (being wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove) and used his trial as an opportunity to preach the Gospel to the king and everyone else listening. Joy and Happiness Are Choices, Not Conditions Listen, here's a key: when our days are filled with depression or troublesome times, we must focus on happiness and joy in order to overcome. Below are some suggestions. Let's begin to think ourselves happy by declaring statements like these: • "God, I am so thankful for this day." • "Thank You for my family, my kids, and my grandkids." • "I am thankful for my health and divine healing." • "Thank You, Lord, that You said I am beautifully and wonderfully made." • "Thank You for my job and divine provision." • "This is the day that the Lord hath made. I will rejoice!" • "Today I decide to think myself happy!" Joy and happiness are choices, not conditions. What we say about ourselves does matter. What we are thinking usually comes out of our mouths. Scripture says, "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he" (Proverbs 23:7 KJV). Paul didn't say, "I feel happy." He said, "I think myself happy." That was intentional language. He was making a decision—a mental and spiritual choice to embrace joy. Happiness and joy are similar, but again, they are not entirely the same. Happiness is sometimes a little more circumstantial, based on what is going on at the moment. Joy, on the other hand, is spiritually rooted in who God is. Paul's happiness at the time wasn't based on comfort. It was based on conviction. Paul had learned the secret of choosing happiness that led to lasting joy, even when life was hard. Over the many years of Paul's ministry, he endured many hardships—many! Yet there was something internal that kept Him committed to preaching the Gospel. I believe he had to continually "think himself happy" until that joy of the Lord kicked in! Here's an illustration. Let us use a thermostat versus a thermometer. A thermometer reacts to the environment or measures the temperature, and a thermostat sets or controls the temperature. Paul was a thermostat. He didn't let his surroundings set the temperature. He set his heart on happiness and joy. Paul knew that joy came from purpose. He was happy because he had a purpose, even in prison. He saw his trial as a platform. He wasn't just defending himself; he was proclaiming the Gospel. When we know our lives have meaning, even suffering can be redeemed. What circumstances are we facing today? Broken relationships? Financial stress? We should ask God this question: How can I use this as a testimony? Remember, a thermostat reacts to the temperature. A thermometer sets the temperature. Our joy can be a lighthouse to someone in a storm. Even though it doesn't save a person from the storm, it does bring people to a safe place. When we find purpose in our pain, joy becomes possible. Paul's joy wasn't just personal; it was powerful. It made people listen. His happiness was a testimony. It made King Agrippa curious. It made Festus confused. It made the Gospel compelling. Joy isn't something we manufacture. It's something we receive through faith and focus. In a world full of anxiety, bitterness, and fear, joy stands out. When we smile through suffering, people ask questions. When we praise through pain, people pay attention. Know Who Holds Our Future Paul didn't know what King Agrippa would decide, but he knew what God had promised. His joy was not in the outcome but in the ONE who holds the outcome. If we struggle to find joy, we don't look outward; we look upward. Joy doesn't come from circumstances; it comes from Christ. 1. Joy is a choice, not a condition. 2. Joy comes from purpose, not comfort. 3. Joy is a witness, not just a feeling. 4. Joy is rooted in Christ, not circumstances. Paul thought himself happy, not because life was easy but because God was faithful. This week, when we face frustrations, disappointments or fears, let's pause and say, "I think myself happy," not because everything is perfect, but because God is present. Let joy be our declaration. Let joy be our decision. Let joy be our testimony. Heavenly Father, thank You for the joy that comes from knowing You. Teach us to think ourselves happy, not because of what we see but because of what we believe. Help us to be thermostats, not thermometers. Use our trials for Your glory. Let our joy be a witness to the world. Let us find purpose in our trials. In Jesus' name, amen. u Permission Granted Sandie Freed Sandie Freed Ministries Email: zionministries1@sbcglobal.net Website: www.lifegatechurch.org I Think Myself Happy SANDIE FREED Bedford, TX
GLAD TIDINGS 5 APRIL 2026 There is a sacred place that the name of the Lord holds in the heart of every true believer. Proverbs says, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it and is safe (Pro. 18:10). We reverence His name because it declares who He is in all His power, majesty, and glory. We must do as David, who said, “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They are brought down and fallen, but we are risen, and stand upright” (Psa. 20:7, . “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings, and ye shall go forth and grow up as calves of the stall.” - Malachi 4:2 Throughout the scriptures, especially in the Old Testament, God’s name was given to reflect His nature. For example, when Abraham was ready to sacrifice Isaac, the angel of the Lord stopped him and said, “Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him, for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me” (Gen. 22:12). The Lord provided a ram in the thicket as a substitute, and Abraham named the place Jehovah-Jireh, meaning “The Lord will provide.” How often have we quoted the verse that says, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:19)? We recognize the nature of God as a provider, supplier, and the one who meets all our needs. The Bible is abundantly clear that we are to honor the name of the Lord. But there is more to it than just esteeming His name for all that He does. We are to reverentially fear the greatness of His name because it reveals His goodness, power, and glory. David said, “O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! Who hast set thy glory above the heavens” (Psa. 8:1). He reiterates the same words in Psalm 148. “Let them praise the name of the Lord: for his name alone is excellent, his glory is above the earth and heaven’s” (Psa. 148:13). When Malachi gave us these words, he was letting us know the importance of fearing the name of the Lord (Mal. 4:2). Earlier, he says, “Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord and that thought upon his name” (Marl. 3:16). What an incredible promise! Every time we think about the greatness of God’s name, it is recorded in a book of remembrance, and every conversation we have that magnifies who He is catches His attention. He takes great delight in choosing to remember our reverence forever. Think about what this means—that as we fear His name, “The Sun of Righteousness” shall arise with healing in His wings. Righteousness simply refers to everything being made right in thought and purpose. The rightness of God speaks of His purity, justice, and the true essence of His goodness in every action He takes. James said, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17). God’s righteousness is pure goodness and light, and whenever we make mention that His name is exalted (Isa. 12:4-6), we open the heavens allowing the rays of His righteousness to shine down upon us with healing, wholeness, and deliverance. That is what the Hebrew word MARPE is speaking of. It describes a cure that addresses every ill we face in life. Psalm 61 says, “For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name” (Psa. 61:5). There comes a time when the rich heritage of God is shared with those of us who make much of the glory of His name. The root word for “heritage” means to inherit or to take possession by inheritance. We are called “heirs of God” and “joint heirs” with Jesus Christ (Rom. 8:17). How can we partake of such a worthy inheritance? It comes by honoring the Lord’s name, reverencing it in all its goodness and glory. One part of this heritage describes our protection. Isaiah says, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord” (Isa. 59:17). As we choose to fear the Lord’s name, we pave a path to our inheritance where we gain God’s wisdom, protection, and redemption. That is why He counsels us to fear Him. Whenever we purpose in our hearts to truly honor God’s name, we open the door to greater revelation concerning His will and ways. Psalm 86 says, “Teach me thy ways, O Lord, I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. I will praise thee, O Lord, my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore” (Psa. 86:11, 12). Uniting our hearts to fear His name involves aligning our entire being with a single purpose: to live with wholehearted surrender and pure reverence toward His righteousness. As David declares in His closing words in the psalms, “Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord; Praise ye the Lord” (Psa. 150:6). A literal rendering could read: “Let every part of our being, even the breath we breathe, give Him praise. Praise Him forevermore!” God wants to open the windows of heaven and pour down upon us more than we could possibly contain. However, we must recognize that it all starts with the high degree of honor, respect, and reverence we give to His name. Malachi told the priests of Israel. “For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the Lord of hosts” (Mal. 1:11). Hebrews 13 says, "By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to his name" (Heb. 13:15). As we make His name great among us, and our praise to Him as a pure offering for His name’s sake, we open the heavens for the Sun of Righteousness to pour down His light and goodness upon us in ways that are beyond measure. That is why David said, "He leads us in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake" (Psa. 23:3). DEFINING MOMENTS… David said, “Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth” (Psa. 124:8). Romans 10 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom. 10:13). The word “saved” in Greek is SOZO. It is defined as being healed, made whole, preserved in danger, delivered from evil, made well, and restored to health. All of this is in His name. As we reverence His name, we pave the way for His salvation to come. CONFESSION I will declare God’s Word over my life: “And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the Lord is his treasure” (Isa. 33:6). Therefore, “I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord” (Psa. 116:13). PRAYER Father, today is the day of salvation. I call upon Your name and claim all that You have promised as my inheritance in the Lord. I reverence all that Your name represents and rejoice in Your righteousness for Your name’s sake. In our fallen world today, we have voices from all directions calling to us to come to them to hear words of luck, our future, ways to succeed in life, and various things people are looking for. These people calling to us use things like tea leaves, crystal balls, tarot cards, Ouija boards, and horoscopes based on constellations, stars, planets, and your birthday. They call themselves palm readers, psychics, fortune tellers, and seers. They claim supernatural powers. They have séances where they claim to hear the voice of your departed loved one giving you advice. Don’t fall for that lie. They do these things for one reason . . . to make MONEY. In the Bible, in 1 Samuel 28:612, King Saul could not get God to answer his prayer about a battle so he consulted a witch from Endor to call up the dead Samuel to ask him what to do. Whether it was Samuel or not, he quoted what God had already told Saul about taking away the kingdom from him and giving it to David. He also told him that he was going to die. Witchcraft is a sin according to 1 Samuel 15:23. Exodus 22:18 says, “You shall not suffer a witch to live.” God is against witchcraft. Back in the time of Jesus, there was a Temple of Apollo in Greece where a woman would enter into a trance and speak in unintelligible words. People from all over the ancient world would come to her seeking divine counsel. She was called the Oracle of Delphi. She, too, was a witch. It, too, was a money-making scam. God wants us to come to Him for wisdom and answers to prayer. He is our Lord. He is our Oracle. He is our provider, our healer, our help in time of need, our shepherd, our deliverer, our victory, our peace. He is our everything. He gave us the Bible in order for us to know what He is like, how He operates, how He loves us unconditionally, and how He provides everything we will ever need. It is our responsibility to read and study the Bible daily so we will be prepared for anything. God does not tell us our future in detail. If we knew our future it would be way to stressful for us to handle. We DO know that we win in the end. God is not going to give away the United States of America or the other nations to His enemy, the devil. Besides, the devil has already been defeated by Jesus when He descended into Sheol after the Crucifixion. Trust in Jesus, study His Word, pray the Word, and experience the VICTORY. CONTENTMENT Have you noticed the word "contentment" seems to have little to no place in today's vocabulary? I am sorry to say it seems to be a dying ideology in our church teachings, as well. Some friends and I have been meeting for a weekly Bible study leading up to the celebration of Resurrection Day. At one of those meetings, we were discussing the pull of the world. I am not talking about outright sin. Hebrews 12:1 advises us to “lay aside every weight.” When we deal with everyday earthly business, it carries weight. It carries thorns which are the cares of the world choking out the seed of the Word of God (see Mark 4:19). We become distracted to pay attention to what happens in our world rather than the spiritual aspect of our daily routine. I believe that has played a role in causing us to become a society that is discontent with most things. If we have to sit ten minutes in a fast-food drive-thru, we become impatient. Impatience is most certainly a product of discontent. What kind of world do we live in when life is never fast enough to suit us. We wish one day away to get to the next. Before we know it, weeks, months, and even years have passed...leaving us feeling life is slipping away. Yet, we continue to hurry it along. Yep, our lifestyles today have no place for contentment. We must work longer to have what we never needed to begin with. We channel flip to find that even more entertaining television show. We are on our electronics while indulging in television. The money spent on weddings and Christmas is beyond comprehension. It is truly easy to see the discontent we have bred in our children. They play some new video game for a few days to only want the next one which comes out. Oh, they will just die if they do not have it; but it only holds their interest for a very short time. Fashion has become way too important to them as well, even at a very young age. "Fads" have definitely helped to create a discontent generation. They must have the latest brand name shoes or jeans. This then pressures the parents to provide what they cannot afford so the child will not be laughed at or feel outcast. Isn't it a little frightening? If we as adults are never satisfied, what condition are today's children going to be in when they reach adulthood? Yesterday, a reel popped up in my Facebook feed. It was from a page titled Armor up Kids. This kid was discussing Philippians 2:14, “Do all things without murmurings and disputings.” He discussed how grumbling can be a product of discontentment and lack of gratitude. Both his video, and our Bible study discussion prompted me to write this today. Old Testament Israel gave us a prime example of discontentment and it's results. It is such an important lesson to us today, the Lord addresses it in the New Testament. I Corinthians 10:1ff, shows how God supplied spiritual food (manna) for them, spiritual water (from the rock), yet; "nevertheless, with most of them God was not well-pleased...now these things happened as examples for us that we should not...grumble as some of them did and were destroyed by the destroyer." I agree with the kid in the video, grumbling is certainly a byproduct of discontentment. Israel, while wandering through the wilderness, was given miracle after miracle; but it was never enough. Let things get a little boring, or even somewhat difficult, and they were ready to turn back to the enemy for their provision. The same enemy who enslaved them, beat them, made their lives miserable and would not even let them celebrate their God. In their forty years of wandering, God had to punish them ten times. Of those ten accounts, seven were due to grumbling. I would say Israel was having a problem being content. Well guess what, we are all the worse! We are not living in tents in the wilderness. We are not walking. We are not even eating manna as our only food. We are in the lap of luxury compared to Israel, yet we grumble every day. MYSELF INCLUDED! Believe me, to write this, meant I had to first study it for myself. It is painful, but the Truth shall make us free! When John the Baptist was preaching repentance, the Roman soldiers asked what they could do. John had a simple answer..."do not take money from anyone by force, or accuse anyone falsely, and be content with your wages." Wow, these are the same soldiers who terrorized the Jewish people, who held them captive. Yet, one third of John's answer was for them to be content with the wages the Roman government gave them. That addressed their own hearts, not how they treated others. In fact, it had nothing to do with their relationship with God's people at all. I ask, are you content with your wages? We want to live for Jesus. Can we do this one simple thing? I used to work for a nonprofit Christian Drug Rehabilitation program. My beginning salary was $200.00 per month. (I was also given room and board.) That was before taxes. This seems more shocking when you realize that I have a B.S. degree in Psychology and was the only qualified counselor at the center. There were employees paid much less than I. We used to sit around and joke about how much an hour each of our wages came to. Some were three cents. One night, the Lord told me to stop indulging in this type conversation. He said, very clearly, "when you become content with the salary you make now; then, and only then, will I increase it..” The next time this issue arose, I told my co-workers what God had spoken to me. I then removed myself from the room so I would not be tempted to "chime in". Within two weeks, I was promoted to Program Administrator, only second to the Directors. I worked there for three years. When I left, I was making $500.00 per month plus room and board. This may not seem like much, but it is a 150% increase, and I had no debt. It seemed like a fortune considering I had paid off a car and a student loan during my time at this ministry. Paul addresses our need for contentment in I Timothy 6. Let's look first at v.6, "But godliness is a means of great gain, when accompanied by contentment." Hopefully, we as Christians, are striving for godliness. If so, we need a good understanding of this verse. I studied the Strong's Concordance, Lexicon Aid, and Webster's Dictionary to find the following as a clarification of what God was telling us through Paul: "But godliness (piety or devotion toward God of which the principle foundation is the whole of true religion) is a means of great gain (furnishing, procuring, i.e. moneygetting, acquisition) when accompanied by contentment (self-satisfaction)." Ah-hah, this seems to contradict itself. If I have a desire to attain money, then I obviously am discontented. How can we deny the Truth of that statement. Let's do some housework. Let's clean up this confusion by backing up to the previous verses to get the crux of the whole Truth. Start with I Timothy 6:3ff. Paul warns against advocating any doctrine different from that of Jesus' concerning godliness. Whoever does advocate such doctrines is "conceited and understands nothing." He goes on to say how such a one indulges in controversy giving rise to envy, strife, etc. One such person causes "friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain." Yes, he is saying, if our godliness is a means to gain money or acquire things; then we are conceited, understand nothing, of a depraved mind, and deprived of Truth. Strong Words from the inspiration of a Strong God! We may try to fool ourselves into believing we are not like that; BUT remember, our Lord looks at the intent of our hearts. We cannot fool Him. Our pulpits are full of this depraved teaching. Give to get. What happened to giving to God just to show our love for Him. This concept is destroying marriages. People are looking to their spouse to fulfill their emotional/physical "needs". This creates discontent with one’s spouse. Of course, Paul does not stop here. In v.8, he continues, "And if we have food and covering, with these we shall be content. But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction." Now, I am going to continue the next verse by once again expounding on the translation. "For the love of money (avarice, greedy desire for wealth, retaining that which one has by accumulation and to multiply it) is a root of all sorts of evil and some by longing for it, wandered away (erred, were led astray, strayed from the Truth, were seduced) from the faith and pierced themselves with many a pang (sorrow). But flee (shun, run away) from these things, you man of God; and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance (remember: impatience is product of discontentment) and gentleness. Philippians 4 is another place Paul addresses our need for contentment. Vs.11-12, "...for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances ... King’s Kids A Featurette of Glad Tidings - A Non-Denominational Christian Newspaper 8 GLAD TIDINGS APRIL 2026 A legend retold about the wisest king there ever was. A long time ago, there lived a very, very wise King. He was so wise he knew the ways of most everything. He knew of animals, birds, fish, and trees. And he taught people from all over the world about these. Now one breezy day, a tiny bee lost her way, and flew right into the King’s beautiful palace. The little bee begged the King, “Please, let me live, and I will serve you some other day.” The King was amused to think a tiny bee could one day serve such a mighty king. He released the bee and said, “Go, be on your way, for I need nothing more from you today.” Many days later, the people of the kingdom filled the palace yard. A queen was coming to visit from a far away land. She heard many people claim this king was very wise. She had to know for sure that they were not all just lies. Finally, she arrived and came up to the King’s lofty throne. She offered her friendship and wonderful gifts, but finally the queen made her real purpose known. “I hear you are wise,” she said. “You are wiser than the rest. Would you be willing to put your wisdom to a test?” The King agreed, and she did her best, with riddles, tricks, and difficult tests. In fact, she became quite a bothersome pest. One day she gave the King a large gemstone, and through the very middle was a tiny twisty hole. “See if you can put a thread through this gem,” she challenged the King with a devious grin. But the King asked a silkworm to climb through the hole, which is not a big problem for a tiny silkworm, you know. And as it did, a thin thread of silk followed the silkworm all the way through. Another time, the queen tested his skills by filling a room with fifty boys and fifty girls. They were all dressed alike so the King could not tell, if one was a boy or another a girl. “See if you can pick out the boys from the girls. Then I will know you are the wisest in the world.” But the King knew exactly how he could tell. He had his servants bring bowls of water for each child. Then he told the children not to make this a race, but he would like all of them to wash off their face. The boys splashed and splashed at the very word go, but the girls daintily dipped their fingers into the bowl. By this the King could very easily tell, who was a boy and who was a girl. Now the queen was quite angered at the King’s show of wisdom, and all the more determined to find a way to trick him. “We must have a test,” she challenged her advisors, “To prove this king’s a fool, not to prove he is wiser!” So they came up with a plan that would surely not fail. It indeed was a test to make the others look pale. They ordered the queen’s craftsmen to make ninety-nine flowers, fake through and through, but looking so real. When finished, even the queen could not tell they were fake. She was sure the King would make the very same mistake. And then from the King’s garden, she took just one real flower, and cleverly hid it among all the others. “Tomorrow will be a wonderful day," the queen said, “because we will make the wise King look foolish instead. Yes, during the party that is held in his honor, we will test the King then, to find his ‘real’ flower.” The next day, the people gathered from over the land to attend the party and worship their king. Then right after the meal the queen stood and spoke. She grabbed the attention of all of the good folk. “Listen everyone, I have something to say. Just one more test to give the King today. My craftsmen created many beautiful flowers. They all look so real to test the king’s powers. Ninety-nine are fake, but one is real somewhere. Can the King find that one, if only he dare?” The King, not wanting to be fooled by this queen, accepted the challenge she handed to him. He sniffed at the flowers, but they all smelled so sweet, and all of the flowers were as soft as could be. The flowers were all so beautiful to see, now which one could the real flower be? The King hesitated, and the people did wonder, “Could our king not be so wise and so great? Surely he could tell a real flower from fake.” The King became a bit perplexed and did not know what to do next. Suddenly, he heard a faint buzzing sound, something was there buzzing around. It was the tiny little bee he saved many days before. “I am here at your service, here I am sir. I am here to repay the kindness you gave, on that one breezy day.” The tiny bee quickly flew over the flowers and in no time at all found the one searching for, the one with the honey, so sweet and so pure. The King stooped down and plucked the flower. “Here is the one, no need to look further.” He handed it to the queen to see. And the craftsmen confirmed, it was the real one indeed. Finally, the queen had to give in and admitted this king was truly the wisest there ever had been. And yes he truly was, for this was King Solomon, the son of David. When Solomon prayed for wisdom instead of riches, God said, "I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for—both riches and honor—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings." (1 Kings 3:12 -13) u A VERY WISE KING
